Ruth Lockhart

Ruth Lockhart, a Fine Art Graduate from IADT, Dublin, was born in Zurich and has been living with her family in Ireland for over twenty years. As a linguist she sees her art as another instrument to translate the essence of a concept, an emotion or a word into the visual language of images.

Words become colour, colour evokes line, line inspires the ‘weight of a painting’ (Rothko).

Her work is about the elusive and ethereal. It allows the viewer to catch a glimpse of something familiar, yet soon it disappears again.

The art of language – the language of art
