Kasper Zier

Kasper Zier

Kasper is a self-taught Danish water-colourist living and working in Dublin. As the grandchild of Painter Wolmer Zier and with many other family artists he has always been attracted to drawing and painting, and so he continues the family tradition. Although he has worked professionally as a graphic designer, he has throughout the years produced various paintings and has held exhibitions in Denmark and Ireland.

His painting style has a fresh and spontaneous feel to it. Rather than painting every detail he looks out for interesting shapes in his subjects and translates these into pure visual language.

Kasper enjoys painting a varied amount of subjects but has recently found great interest in urban scenes, capturing the play of light on buildings and streets using clear color and a superb balance of free expressive brushstrokes and ‘lost and found’ edges. The end results of this techniques, and his personal touch, leads to unique paintings full of atmosphere and character.

Kasper Zier has been living in Ireland since 2001.
