Brigit Beemster

Brigit has been working as a full time artist since 1989. She has developed her own very individual style, using the clay in a way nobody else does. She enjoys the challenge of stretching the boundaries of what is possible with her raw materials.

“The theme of my work is people. Our real selves, us without the masks,  endlessly fascinate me. Therefore my sculptures show us at play with each other, our pets, ourselves. They show us when we are good, because I think we are, most of the time. A sense of humour is essential. I would like to be thought of as a cross between Norman Rockwell, Pieter Brugel and Gary Larson.”
