Nestled at the foot of the Sperrin Mountains in County Derry, Leona has transformed her family’s homestead on their ancestral farm into a vibrant studio. The land, cultivated by six generations of her family, has long been dedicated to preserving the region’s rich biodiversity, which has, in turn, created a natural haven for wildlife. This environment now serves as the primary inspiration for Leona’s work. Specializing in ceramics, Leona works predominantly with clay, utilizing a range of handbuilding techniques to craft unique pieces that capture the essence and charisma of the rural landscape and its animal inhabitants, particularly hares and foxes. A graduate of the University of Ulster with a degree in Fine and Applied Art, where she specialized in Ceramics, Leona has since gained recognition for her work. She has received numerous prestigious commissions, creating bespoke giftware and awards that have been presented to distinguished dignitaries.
